This about my great great grandfather Daniel , Kermode.
This is a picture of my great great grandfather and his sisters:
My Great Great Gandfather was the first to come to Australia then New Zealand from the isle of man.
Leigh Morgan was born in Derby, England and moved to New Zealand in
1999 by airplane. None of his ancestors came to New Zealand, he was the
first of his family. 20 years after he had moved his sister also came to New
Zealand and they have been currently trying to get their father into the
country from the Philippines. Despite being born in Derby, England he lived
in Malawi, south eastern Africa till around the age of 8 then moved to Hong
Kong and lived there till 1999 then moving to New Zealand with his partner.
He has always lived with 4 immediate family members, not including 6 maids
in Africa and 2 in Hong Kong. He has never had much religious influence in
his life apart from being christened as a baby to the church of England.
As a kid one of his many hobbies was making model aircrafts (as seen in the
picture above), he also played almost any sport you can think of. There
were very limited ways of hearing/seeing world news, in Africa it was all
through radio but when he moved to hong kong they got their first tv. His
first memory was in Africa, going every saturday to Dairy Den (a house with
a play area that sold ice cream) this was when he was about 5 or 6. He
doesn't remember his mum's dad because he died when he was very little, he
was in the world war. His nan was a very good swimmer but she died of
parkinsins. His grand dad was a big part of his early childhood, he was
very smart, he was a mathematician, artist and had photographic memory.
Leah Kermode was born in Wellington, New Zealand. She has
traveled to many countries including most of England, Hong Kong,
Africa, Iceland, etc. Her great grandfather (as written about
in paragraph above) moved to australia then eventually New Zealand
from the Isle of man. She has only ever lived with her immediate
family despite her parents splitting up when she was in her teens.
She recalls that she spent most of her time at her dad’s and would
normally walk for 30 minutes just to get there. Growing up she did
lots of dance and despite wanting to play sports she wasn’t allowed
to because of the fear of getting injured. Apart from listening to
the radio everyday there wasn’t any other way to hear about world
news, that is why she wanted to go out and see it for herself.
Her earliest memory was playing tag with the neighbours and
running through a sliding glass door that she thought was open
but had been closed, this happened when she was 6.
